「わやはや」は、Be Easy Brewingの10年の歴史の中で、最もホップを使ったビールです。名古屋で、少し（いや、だいぶ）お酒が入ったBe Easyファンとの会話からすべてが始まりました。青森アップルマラソンの話をしていた時、「出て優勝するよ！」と言われ、私は信じず「本当に優勝したら、あなたの飲みたいビールを造るよ」と約束しました。

数ヶ月後、彼女は本当に青森に来てフルマラソンを完走。しかも私がハーフで遅かったことに文句を言い、見事優勝。こうして、このビールが誕生しました。

リクエストはTDHヘイジーIPA。設備の限界まで挑戦し、通常の半分近い回収量になるほどホップを投入。それでも約束は約束です。

使用したホップは、ルミノーサ、フリースタイル・コヒアネルソン、カスケード、シムコー、クリオ・センテニアル、クリオ・モザイク、クリオ・ネルソーソーヴィン。オーツ麦、小麦、カラピルスモルトをたっぷり使ったボディが、この狂気のホップ量をしっかり支えています。

唯一“Be Easyらしく”抑えたのがアルコール度数。9%ではなく、私たちが普段飲みたい 7.5% に設定しました。

A TDH Hazy IPA born from a bet, a marathon, and way too many hops

We have never used this many hops in a beer in the ten years of Be Easy Brewing. Waiyahaya was born from a conversation in Nagoya with a Be Easy fan who had enjoyed more than a few beers. We were talking about the Aomori Apple Marathon, and she confidently said she’d join and take first place. I (Gareth) didn’t believe her and said that if she did, we’d brew the beer she wanted to brew.

A few months later, she shows up in Aomori, runs the full marathon, yells at me for being slow in the half marathon, finishes first — and the beer was born.

She wanted a TDH Hazy IPA, and we pushed our equipment to its limits to make it happen. We used so many hops that our yield dropped to nearly half of a normal batch. But a deal is a deal.

This beer is packed with Luminosa, Freestyle Kohia Nelson, Cascade, Simcoe, Cryo Centennial, Cryo Mosaic, and Cryo Nelson Sauvin. A massive, juicy hop blast sits on a moderate body built with plenty of oats, wheat, and carapils malt to balance and slightly sweeten this wild hop load.

The one place we stayed true to ourselves was the ABV. Instead of pushing it to 9%, we kept it at 7.5% — exactly where we like our own beers to drink.

Come one, come all, for the beer that made me eat my words… while absolutely destroying our hop inventory like a fire sale.
