「まんずめんこい」は、大のビール好きである Mana（まな）さんと一緒に仕込んだ特別なコラボレーションラガーです。「個性的なキャラクターがありながらも、夏の暑い日に何杯でも飲めるドリンカビリティが欲しい！」というManaさんのリクエストから、ゆずピールと生姜を使ったラガーに挑戦することに決めました。仕込み当日はManaさんにも参加していただき、最初から最後までの工程を一緒に行いました！

グラスを傾けると、フレッシュで瑞々しいゆずの zesty（柑橘の皮のような爽やか）なアロマが立ち上り、その奥に生姜が優しく香ります。一口飲むと、その印象が心地よく逆転。生姜の爽快なフレーバーが口いっぱいに広がり、辛味が強くなりすぎる絶妙な手前で、ゆずの華やかなシトラス感が後味を綺麗に締めくくります。ベースがすっきりとしたラガーだからこそ、ゴクゴク飲める最高の爽快感を実現しました。

生姜はアロマを最大限に引き出すため、煮込み終了の直前にすりおろして投入。ゆずピールは無駄な渋みや余計な苦味を出さずにフレッシュな風味だけを抽出できるよう、ホワールプールで贅沢に加えました。

ユニークな副原料を使った仕込みは久しぶりでしたが、大満足の仕上がりになりました。素晴らしいアイデアと仕込みのサポートをしてくれたManaさんに感謝を込めて、乾杯！

"Manzu Menkoi" (Tsugaru dialect for "Truly Cute") is a special collaboration lager brewed alongside Mana, a genuine craft beer lover! Mana wanted to create something with distinct personality that could still be crushed effortlessly on a hot summer day.

Together, we decided to craft a crisp lager infused with fresh yuzu peel and real ginger. Mana joined us in the brewhouse on brew day, helping out with the process from start to finish!

The beer opens with a bright, zesty yuzu citrus aroma with gentle notes of ginger floating in the background. On the palate, the experience delightfully flips: the lively ginger flavor takes center stage first, backing off just before becoming overly spicy, allowing the zesty, refreshing yuzu to sweep in on the finish. Sitting atop a clean, snappy lager foundation, it makes for an insanely refreshing brew.

To capture as many volatile aromatics as possible, we freshly grated the ginger right before the end of the boil. We then added the yuzu peel directly to the whirlpool, extracting maximum fresh citrus character without pulling out any harsh astringency or unwanted bitterness.

It’s been a while since we played around with unique ingredients like these, and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Massive cheers to Mana for the brilliant idea and all her hard work!
